We use a water-based paint formulated for use on plastics, metals, and other hard surfaces including automotive surfaces when painting our batting helmets.  Water-based paints will not harm the plastic of the helmets.  Paints that should never be used on plastics, especially batting helmets and other protective gear, are those that contain petroleum products which can deteriorate the plastic and make it unsafe for use.

We are still adding colors to our helmet paint line.  In the meantime, these are the colors we currently use on our batting helmets.
